On March 20th, 2024 the French Honor Society conducted its annual Induction Ceremony at Westbury High School, alongside the other prominent national honor societies. Ten incredible students were inducted on that day. The French Honor Society’s portion of the ceremony was led by cabinet members Areej Nawaz, Johanna Cervantes, Sadae Campbell, and Melanie Luis. New Inductees were told to hold their dark blue candles, light their flames, and repeat the oath. They swore commitment to enrich themselves through French culture and language and then light the flames that transfer that vast knowledge to others. Robin Fils-Aime, Bethchina Louisdor, Omar Madrill, Valentina Mayanga, Kevin Mendoza Ceron, Carlos Monroy Gonzalez, Juan Mora Afanador, Albertina Policape, Nathaly Quezada, and Kimberly Torres all took the oath to remain faithful to upholding the standards of the French Honor Society. Each of these students worked hard to obtain the qualifications to become members of the society, including maintaining an overall 90 average in French, as well as maintaining an 80 overall GPA. They’ve embodied the spirit, love, and dedication of the French Honor Society.
Areej Nawaz, Johanna Cervantes, Sadae Campbell, Jecson Villatoro Bonilla, Jose Maldonado Rodriguez, Marvin Cruz Rivera, Ghavena Dorce and Briana Destrat are all senior members of the French Honor Society who are graduating. The society will be sad to see them go, however, it is exciting to see what these newly inducted members will make of the French Honor Society in the years to come. New members have already been elected by their peers to fill cabinet positions for next year! Félicitations to all our new inductees!
