1. Our next Book Club meeting will be today, February 14, 2023! Please feel free to join in room 155. Snacks will be provided, and we will be reading “One of Us is Lying.” Feel free to join our Remind for a copy of the book. Our Remind code is bookwhs.
2. Handmade Paper Cards
Do you need a unique and thoughtful gift for Valentine’s Day? The National Art Honor Society will be selling cards made of handmade paper and rose petals along with chocolate and rose candy boxes for a special Valentine’s gift or something for yourself “just because”. We will be in the lobby during lunch periods beginning today to show examples and take Valentine’s Day orders.
3. BOCES Interest and Taste of Tech Trip
Please see Ms. Archdeacon’s Google Classroom and Remind as well as attached, you will see the link for your interest in BOCES and the March 1st Taste of Tech visit. Reminder of qualifications: GPA 80, Excellent Attendance and no behavior concerns.
4. Pink and/or Red on Fridays for the month of February
Good Morning Westbury! We will be wearing PINK and/or RED on Fridays for the month of FEBRUARY in celebration of Black History Month and our district’s theme of #GENEROSITY We look forward to your participation! ~Niki and Sandra, SEL Facilitators
5. Spring Break 2024 Europe Trip
Dear Westbury High Scholar, You (and your parents) are invited to join us on an upcoming educational travel experience to Greece and Italy in 2024! When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have you join us on this adventure. Come hear all the details, including the itinerary, activities, and the cost of our trip at our information meeting on Wednesday, February 15th at 7 PM. The meeting will take place online via Zoom. 6. Kindness Counts!
Do you know someone who always goes the extra mile to help others? Who always takes the time to be kind? Nominate that person for special recognition. Pick up the “Kindness Counts” nomination form from the SEL Scholars table in the lobby during the lunch periods this week.
7. There is a mandatory National Student Council Meeting this Thursday, February 16 at 2:30 p.m. in Room 190. Bring your LI Youth Summit projects to work on. Please try to have them finished this week!!
8. Random Acts of Kindness Week
February is Kindness Awareness Month! Stand up for being the change you want to see in the world! Join Dr. James, Ms. Auguste and the members of the SEL Scholars Club in our commitment to generosity as an act of kindness. Let’s show everyone some extra kindness, caring, helpfulness, and compassion all month long.
Stop by the SEL Scholars table in the lobby during your lunch period from Monday to Friday 2/13-2/17.
Wear pink or red on Fridays and get your cute sock ready for Friday, February 17th. It’s Rock One Sock Day in celebration of Kindness Awareness Week.
Remember, it doesn’t cost a dime to be kind!
