The Westbury High School community collected and distributed 75 bags of goods during the Thanksgiving Drive.

On Nov. 21, Westbury High School concluded its month-long annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. In conjunction with community members, Aronova and Associates, The New York City Department of Corrections Hispanic Society, and local churches, Westbury delivered 75 bags of goods collected for families in need. It was super ambitious but with the help of all of our staff, students, and community we made this goal a reality,” said coordinator Koriene Petrelli.

Volunteers personally delivered packages consisting of turkeys, potatoes, boxes of macaroni and cheese, canned sweet potatoes, green beans, and more. “This is a way to give back to the community that we work with each day. This is a meal that many of our families would not have had. Some of the families even stated that they were not sure where their next meal would come from,” Petrelli said of the event that has been taking place for decades. She continued, “On Thanksgiving, we are giving thanks to the people in our lives, our health and wellness, the food on our table, and to our life and everything in it. We have so many things to be thankful for, and it feels wonderful to be able to give back during such a meaningful time of the year.”
